ABOUT VIRTUAL WALK-A-THON

WHEN: Mon September 16 - Fri September 27 (2 weeks)

WHAT IS A VIRTUAL WALK-A-THON? 

The Walk-a-Thon is our school's largest fundraiser in which families, friends, and neighbors pledge money to support the students as they participate in the Walk-a-Thon. Because our Walk-a-Thon is virtual, students will gather donations by encouraging their supporters to pledge a fixed amount for completing the attached Bingo Challenge which can be done anywhere – in your living room, on a trail, around the lake, in your neighborhood. After the Walk-a-Thon, the Birch Grove PTC will collect the donations and use the funds to give back to Birch Grove Elementary throughout the year.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Last year the PTC raised more than $30,000 from the Walk-a-Thon. These funds went directly to our students and teachers in the form of classroom allocations, mini-grants, and events such as Trunk or Treat, Family Game Night, Sweetheart Dance, and more! In order to continue providing these programs, we are aiming for 100% participation in our Walk-a-Thon event; any donation is welcome.

HOW DO WE RAISE MONEY?

Your student will have their own pledge page on our 99Pledges Birch Grove School site. This is where sponsors can make a flat donation and where you can view your student’s fundraising total. Students are encouraged to collect all sponsorships by 3:00pm PT on September 27th. Donations will still be accepted after the due date but will not count towards prizes. The office will collect in-person donations. Make checks payable to "Birch Grove PTC" and write your student's name AND teacher on the envelope with the donation.

HOW CAN I HELP?

Encourage your student to participate and get engaged in the event! Explain that the money THEY EARN goes into their classrooms, pays for supplies, and funds events. Donate on your student’s pledge page and help collect sponsors by sharing their pledge page with friends, relatives, neighbors, and coworkers. Join them on walks and help them complete their Walk-a-Thon Bingo Challenge to earn a prize! The classroom that raises the most funds per grade level will win a class prize!

WHERE IS MY CHILD'S DONATION PAGE?

Visit our 99Pledges Birch Grove School site and locate your student's page by using the “search for participant” bar. Your student will be listed with their first name and last initial, as well as their teacher’s name. This is their digital pledge page where sponsors can make a flat donation. You can view your student’s fundraising total here as well.

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?

99Pledges accepts Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover, as well as PayPal, ApplePay and GooglePay. 
The office will collect in-person donations. Make checks payable to "Birch Grove PTC" and write your student's name AND teacher on the envelope with the donation.
